Death of Bee Burger

Pharmacist assisted generations of families in the community.

OWNER of Aquarius Pharmacy in Toti Mall, Bee Burger who dispensed medication to generations of families for some 42 years, died at home in Toti in the early hours of Wednesday, 15 July.

“He had been ill since January,” said pharmacist Bev Howard.
Bee (73) was born in the Eastern Cape and qualified as a pharmacist from Rhodes University in 1970 and later moved to Toti.

In 1973, he opened Aquarius Pharmacy and quickly became an institution in the area, over the years assisting several generations of the same families.
“He was a good, knowledgeable pharmacist and loved to explain things. His customers loved to chat to him,” said Bev.

Personality-wise, she described him as ‘full of fun’.

In his younger years, Bee and his wife Sarie travelled extensively, particularly to scuba-diving spots.

He was also a model train enthusiast, which he pursued as a hobby.
Bev explained the pharmacy will continue to run as usual.

Bee is survived by his wife Sarie. A memorial service will be held at the NG Church in Frost Street on Saturday, 18 July at 2.30pm.
