Paramedics hear N2 crash, treat nine injured

Some of the injured had been ejected from a taxi.

NINE people were injured, three seriously, after a taxi overturned on the southbound lane of the N2 opposite Kingsway Hospital on Sunday, 12 July at about 8.04am.

“Netcare 911 paramedics were sitting at their base when they heard the deafening noise of the vehicle tumbling down the highway and screams from the passengers. When the paramedics responded they found accident debris obstructing the highway while the wreckage had come to rest in the centre median. The injured were spread across the grass after some had been ejected,” said Netcare media liaison, Chris Botha.

After triaging, it was found that three people had sustained serious injuries while seven miraculously escaped with minor injuries. Medics stabilised the injured before transporting them to Prince Mshiyeni Hospital.

The cause of the accident will be investigated by police.
