Support welfare at family fun day

Lots to buy from crafts and food and activities for the children.

UNDER the Tree Pre-Primary School is hosting a family fun day and craft market in aid of Kingsburgh Child and Family Welfare Society on Saturday, 8 August.

The venue is the Wavecrest Holiday Resort, opposite Illovo Nursery in Elizabeth Avenue in Illovo Beach.

Gates open at 10am and fun activities continue until 4pm. It is open to the public and there is no entrance fee.

If you have arts and crafts to sell, or any interesting items, contact Esta on 082-307-4685. Tables cost R100 each.

“We will have a white elephant table and a bunny chow stall,” said senior social worker at Kingsburgh Welfare, Sandra Govender.

Children can have their faces painted or visit an animal farm on the same premises for which an entry fee will be charged.

It is the public’s opportunity to support the society to continue its much-needed services in the community. In November, the society celebrates 70 years of providing professional counselling and case work involving child abuse and neglect, marital difficulties, family reconstruction, unmarried mothers and general social problems.

It also hosts education-related programmes such as victim empowerment, first aid training and more throughout the year, depending on funds available.

Kingsburgh Welfare serves the communities of Kingsburgh, Warner Beach, Illovo Beach, St Winifreds, Doonside, Doonheights, Winklespruit and Lower Illovo. It also caters for clients from KwaMakhutha and Rainbow Park.

To find out more about its work, call the office between 8am and noon on 031-916-2274.
