Hospital’s R160-m expansion set for completion next September

Upgrades to the maternity ward, neonatal ICU and adult ICU will be completed before the end of 2016.

Kingsway Hospital is responding to Toti’s growing demand for world-class healthcare by further expanding its facilities.

The new project has already commenced and will be completed in September 2016, at a cost of R160-million.

This follows its 35-bed and double parking lot expansion in 2012.

“Netcare wants to ensure the Toti community receives the best healthcare available. What started as a small group of doctors in a community clinic more than 30 years ago is now a world-class hospital that is recognised for the consistent quality medical care it provides,” said general manager, Annatjie Demetriou.

The expansion project consists of a high-tech, seven-bed intensive care unit (ICU) and high care ward, and two general wards, which will add 47 adult beds to the hospital this September. “This increased bed capacity will ensure the hospital can continue to meet the needs of the growing community.”

All existing wards and units are being upgraded in phases. The paediatric, medical, surgical and orthopaedic ward upgrades are complete.

Upgrades to the maternity ward, neonatal ICU and adult ICU will be completed before the end of 2016.

“A special addition that we are very excited about is the new facilities for the existing medical centre. We are adding 12 doctor’s consulting suites, which will accommodate more specialists and allow for more patients to benefit from their knowledge and expertise.”

The medical centre will also see an additional lift lobby and a three-level parking deck with 150 additional parking bays. The individual parking deck levels will connect to the new lift lobby, which will facilitate easy access to the medical centre and hospital for visitors and patients.

“We are grateful for the consideration shown by the public and our patients during these expansion projects and we thank them for their support. We are confident that the newly upgraded facilities will provide an enhanced quality of care for the Toti community,” said Demetriou.
