Help Winter Knights campaign spread warmth

Donate blankets, warm clothing, non-perishable food items or money on Thursday, 2 July at Lords and Legends.

With the colder weather making us reach for our blankets and warm clothing, the Winter Knights of the Round Table call you to join them in the fight against the cold and to help them spread warmth to those less fortunate.

“This is the 12th year that the Winter Knights campaign will unite communities through the giving and receiving of blankets, clothing and hot meals that warm not only bodies, but the hearts of all involved,” said president of Amanzimtoti Round Table, Peter Labuschagne.

The success of this campaign lies in the passion of the Winter Knights, who serve their community by putting their hearts and souls into a variety of self-funded fundraising activities. These young men, aged between 18 and 40-years-old, and from all walks of life, brave freezing winter nights to go out and cover the homeless with blankets and serve hot meals to the hungry. Their delivery of winter supplies at homeless shelters, orphanages and old age homes brings smiles to the faces of young and old alike.

“We believe that the true measure of our success is the hope that is spread to those who receive and the joy felt by those who are able to give. We are looking forward to another successful fundraising project, which is only made possible with the involvement and partnership of our local communities,” said Peter.

Support your Winter Knights by donating blankets, warm clothing, non-perishable food items or money on Thursday, 2 July at Lords and Legends from 7pm until late. “We will have a container there to collect blankets, warm clothes and non-perishable foods.

Pick and pay at Arbour Crossing is on board and we will place a container at the shop for donations. Getting the community to assist us to help the less fortunate would make our workload a lot lighter.”
