On Wednesday, 10 June the Warner Beach Caltex Garage women’s twinkle trips were played at Winklespruit Bowling Club. Second session winners were Heather Brown, Joan van Rensburg and Vera Broskie.
Overall winners were Susan Erasmus and team mates Denise Bingham and Charlotte Kohl. Denise Bingham also walked away with the 100 board lucky draw cash prize. Jeanette Clarence won the spider and Sue Welsh won the mystery prize.
The women’s teams who entered the two-day women’s winter tournament played at Amanzimtoti Bowling Club on 11 and 12 June showed they can beat the best. The team of Elaine Critchlow, Joyce Mackrory, Norma Raath and Maureen Griffin won the second session in their section and the team of Susan Erasmus, Elmarie Young, Denise Bingham and Charlotte Kohl won the third session in their section.
Congratulations to the WBC women’s inter-club league teams. The women’s Winklespruit A team won the 4th division and the Winklespruit B team won division eight. Well done to all the girls, you make the club proud.
Congratulations to the WBC men’s league team for their win against Westville BC on Saturday, 13 June. Thanks to all the many enthusiastic supporters who encouraged their players during the competition by proudly displaying a traditional Mexican wave after each winning end.
On Sunday, 14 June the monthly sponsored Steve Evenwel mixed 2-4-2 was played. The 1st session winners were Brian Pasfield and Charlotte Kohl. Second session winners were Elaine Critchlow and partner Brian Bodley. Overall winners with a score of 4+26 went to Brian Cox and Maureen Griffin. Joyce Mackrory and Greg Dickason each won a bottle of wine for the most enthusiastic and entertaining players of the day. They displayed a joyful spirit and reminded us why we play the game of bowls. The whiskey draw was won by Wessie van der Westhuizen and Colin Coetzee won the Amarula draw.
