BREAKING NEWS: Suspected drug lab raided in Toti

It is supposedly linked to the conviction this week of a Panorama Park, Illovo Beach couple who were arrested for operating a drug lab.

MEMBERS of Durban’s Organised Crime Unit were raiding a suspected drug lab located in a block of flats in Amanzimtoti’s Ross Street at 5pm on Wednesday evening, 10 June.

Neighbours noticed a commotion, as well as police members dressed in haz-mat suits entering the building when they arrived home after work. When the Sun arrived at the scene, members of the unit were in the parking lot of the building.

A senior policeman on the scene referred the Sun to the provincial police media office, but no-one could be reached for comment.

However, one of the owners of a flat in the building said police had seized machinery known to have been used in the manufacture of drugs. Several arrests had been effected on Wednesday afternoon, and police were still inside the flat.

In addition, the flat owner said the matter was supposedly linked to the conviction this week of a Panorama Park couple, who were arrested in July 2013 for operating a drug lab.
