Lotto winners out of luck in claiming winnings

The people were furious and threatened to not support the Lotto anymore.

Toti Lotto winners were furious when they could not claim their weekend winnings on Monday, 1 June.

Kingsburgh resident, Margo Hancox said her son got three numbers correct, but when they went to a pay-out point, the machines were offline and they were told to go to Toti post office.

“When we got to the post office, there was a queue of people, some with four or five numbers, and the post office would not pay out,” she said. “The people were furious and threatened to not support the Lotto anymore.”

Gidani Limited was mandated to operate the national lottery in terms of the Second National Lottery Licence until 31 May.

The new licence was issued to Ithuba Holdings by the Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Rob Davies and Gidani ceased operations on Sunday.

In accordance with its licence requirements, Gidani turned off its sales channels and ceased vending and payment of National Lottery prizes.

If you have won up to R5,000, you can collect your winnings from any of the 8,000 retail pay-out points from Wednesday, 3 June onwards. From R5,000 up to R50,000 can be collected from the post office and above R50,000 from the Ithuba Holdings office or contact 080-048-4822.
