Both cases of the H1N1 virus or swine flu that have been confirmed at Amanzimtoti High School were caught before the infectious stage and no threat exists at the school.

This is according to a statement made by vice-principal, Rose Hughes.

She was addressing a parents evening at school on Thursday evening, 28 May when she made the assurance.

A teacher and a pupil were diagnosed with the respiratory virus strain this week.

The school sent a letter home to parents earlier on Thursday, explaining the situation, symptoms to look out for and what to do if you suspect you may have swine flu.
