Upcycle your used bits and bobs

Bread sealers, aluminium can rings and used stamps are recycled.

IF you have bread sealers, aluminium pull rings of cool drink cans, used stamps and small change, consider donating them as they are used to better the lives of the needy.

St Winifreds Methodist Church in Warner Beach collects the bread sealers. “These are recycled and turned into picture frames,” said St Wins Afternoon Women’s Auxillary PRO, Veronica Irons.

The aluminium can rings are collected much the same as the bread sealers as a raw material for recycling which is passed on to a Pinetown resident. “The collection finances wheelchairs for those who can`t afford their own.”

The used stamps can be dropped off at the office of the Poinsettia Park Retirement Centre in the mornings. Resident Charles Rickets has a team who processes them for sale.

“We also collect used stamps and small change for Zululand Mission Air Transport (ZUMAT) which is no longer flying doctors and patients to and from rural clinics, but has sold all its assets, except the hangar and is presently looking for a few candidates from those rural areas, with the required matric results, to fund through medical school so that they can in turn serve their areas in a medical capacity.”

“We encourage people in the community to start collecting these items. A little goes a long way to help better the lives of others,” said Veronica.
