Jewellery burglar bagged

The complainant positively identified the stolen jewellery.

Quick work from the Community Crime Prevention Organisation (CCPO) netted a brace of house robbers on Monday, 13 April.

According to CCPO operations manager, Leon Joone, one of their security officers spotted movement in the St Winifreds area at about 2am.

“The security officer saw a suspect and gave chase,’ said Leon. “He was found in possession of housebreaking implements.” The man was detained by the CCPO and handed over to Toti SAPS.

After multiple alarm activations and attempted break-ins in Stockdale Road later in the morning, a man was chased by Blue Security’s armed response and tackled by Leon at about 9.50am. He was found in possession of jewellery. “The complainant positively identified the stolen jewellery,” said Leon.

The man was detained by the CCPO and arrested by Toti SAPS. Further investigation revealed the man is wanted for other housebreaking incidents.

“This is good collaboration work by Toti SAPS, Blue Security and the CCPO and we are pleased by the success,” said Leon.
