Welfare teaches child protection to pre-schoolers

Child protection should be everyone's responsibility

KINGSBURGH Child and Family Welfare Society hosted a child protection programme for pupils of Under the Tree Pre-School at its offices in Warner Beach on Wednesday, 25 March.

“Our child protection programme is aimed at teaching children as young as possible to protect themselves. We all need to make child protection our responsibility,” said senior social worker, Sandra Govender.

The programme focused on teaching children to:

  • Be aware of their surrounding at all times.
  • Use their loudest voice, yell and tell.
  • Never get into a stranger’s car or accept sweets from strangers.
  • If they felt unsafe, to tell someone they trust.
  • Good and bad touching.

Should any early childhood development centres require a child protection programme, contact Sandra or Janette on 031-916-2274, between 8am and noon.
