Bare branches remain as welfare fundraising drive battles

Organisation aims to raise R70,000 by November.

IT has been a slow start to fundraising for Kingsburgh Child and Family Society in Warner Beach, which aims to raise R70,000 by November, in time to celebrate its 70th anniversary.

It plans to raise R1,000 for every year of its existence and calls on the community who have always been generous and supportive to dig deep into its pockets once again.

A fundraising money tree has been put up the organisation’s offices in Hall Road, Warner Beach. It currently has bare branches and as donations and pledges comes in, leaves will be added.

On Monday, 30 March it received a donation of R1,150 from Doonheights Pre-Primary School. Principal, Sue Perry challenges all early child development centres in the community to donate to welfare’s cause.

The society was founded in November, 1945 and is still flourishing, continuing to meet the needs of the community. Senior social worker, Sandra Govender provides professional counselling and her case work involves child abuse and neglect, marital difficulties, family reconstruction, unmarried mothers and general social problems.

The organisation calls on businesses and individuals to support the initiative.
