SEVERAL lanes of a 200-metre section of the N2, before the Isipingo off-ramp has been closed to traffic after body parts were found strewn across the north and southbound lanes on Monday morning, 30 March.
Earlier in the morning, the lower part of a leg was seen lying on the southbound lane of the N2.
Metro Police and SAPS are currently on scene.
“The possibility is the person could have been struck by a vehicle on the northbound lane and the leg, from the knee down, landed on the southbound lane,” said Netcare 911 media liaison, Chris Botha who also attended the scene.
Only two lanes on both sides of the highway are open to traffic, which has caused a backlog.
Umlazi SAPS is investigating and has opened an inquest docket.
