R1-5m revamped clinic to open next week

The clinic serves between 3,000 and 4,000 people per month.

RENOVATIONS to the tune of R1,5-m have have been carried out at the Kingsburgh Primary Health Clinic in Winklespruit.

Keys to the clinic was officially handed over by contractors, MVY Construction to eThekwini Municipality on Monday, 16 March.

“The clinic serves between 3,000 and 4,000 people per month from Illovo, Kingsburgh, Winklespruit, Umgababa, Umnini, Vulamehlo and Kingsburgh West. Currently, we are moving furniture and setting-up to be fully operational,” said clinc area manager, Mamo Madondo.

The clinic will be open to the public on Monday, 23 March.

Contractors took over the facility in June, 2014. Upgrades include extensive roof repairs, the staff lounge, staff lockers and parking were extended and new HIV/TB wing, emergency room, duty room, waste room, sluice room, observation room, two additional consulting rooms, additional male toilet, two additional female toilets, a paraplegic toilet and guard house were added.

Upgrades and extensions were done to the dental clinic and pharmacy and a ramp installed to facilitate wheelchair access.
