AWI elects new president, vice

Melanie then informed members she was relocating to Johannesburg, and this was to be her last meeting as president of AWI.

AT the opening of the Amanzimtoti Women’s Institute (AWI) AGM, Melanie Venske, president, welcomed Heather Stevens, Federated Women’s Institute executive member, and visitors Vera Humbly and Pat Rhodes.

The annual report was read out by Melanie, advising members of all the charities WI donated to, as well as the various activities and functions the WI attended during 2014.

Melanie then informed members she was relocating to Johannesburg, and this was to be her last meeting as president of AWI. Melanie gave her farewell speech, which included the sad event of the death of her husband Les.

Toti WI will miss a happy, dedicated and enthusiastic president who devoted great time to her office. Members then presented Melanie with a gift of appreciation and she gave all members a gift for all their loyalty and help.

A new president was elected, Muriel Hartwig and vice president Yvonne Dixie. A very scrumptious tea was enjoyed.
