Sir Galahad to the rescue

Sally was a big girl and neither of us had the strength to carry her, as we were two old 'damsels' in distress.

EDITOR – The objective of this letter is to thank a splendid young man and his friend who came to our assistance on the night of Wednesday, 12 February on William Brown Road, Illovo Beach.

Sally, our glorious 12 year-old golden retriever, was coming to the end of her life and was being monitored by our vet. On that Wednesday night, she indicated that she wanted to go out for her ablutions. Hesitantly, we put her on her lead and led her slowly onto the road, but we realised rapidly that she was unable to get home. She simply did not have the energy and lay down.

Sally was a big girl and neither of us had the strength to carry her, as we were two old ‘damsels’ in distress. A car pulled up, the aforementioned young man saw our dilemma and without hesitation, picked up our beautiful Sally and carried her into the house. We refer to him as our knight in shining armour.

Sadly, the next morning, the decision was made to euthanase her, as her quality of life was all but gone.

Unfortunately we did not get the name or address of our Sir Galahad and his friend. We would be grateful if you could print this letter, which may then enable us to make contact with them. How lucky we all are to have young men of this calibre.
