Children, pregnant woman injured in taxi crash

The children were between the ages of six and 12-years-old.

TWENTY ONE children were injured in a taxi crash at the intersection of Old Main Road and John Craven Place at about 7am on Friday, 20 February.

It is believed the taxi drove out of John Craven Place and was hit on its side by another taxi travelling along Old Main Road.

“Netcare 911 paramedics, the fire department and several other services found the roadway obstructed with the twisted frames of the vehicles and accident debris. The injured were found on the side of the road. After triaging them, it was found that 21 children between the ages of six and 12-years-old were injured, along with four adults, one of them a pregnant woman” said Netcare spokesman, Chris Botha.

After they were treated, they were taken to various hospitals in the area for the care that they required.
