eThekwini hosts workshop for co-operatives

Municipality wants to improve support offered to co-operatives.

IN an effort to provide support and nurture co-operatives in order for them to be self-sustainable and successful, eThekwini Municipality invites members of co-operatives within the
municipal area to attend and contribute to the development of a viable Co-operatives Development Strategy.

A workshop takes place at Toti civic centre on Thursday, 5 February.
“Co-operatives contribute meaningfully in the local, provincial, and global economy, which is why the municipality is developing this strategy to improve support offered to them,” said project executive of the business support, tourism and markets unit’s Siyabonga Luthuli.

Copies of the Co-operatives Development Strategy are obtainable from the SEDA Office in Johannes Nkosi Street and Sizakala centres from 16 January, between 8am and 4pm or at www.durban.gov.za for members of co-operatives to read and make their comments
