Mr Inks is no more

He was a popular speaker at local orchid clubs and shows.

ATHLONE PARK’S Ray Eldridge, who on retirement made a hobby of helping people with their computers and supplying printer inks, died with dignity on Wednesday, 21 January from mesothelioma, at the age of 80.

He enjoyed getting to know his customers and made personal friends with many of them.
Ray was born in Cheltenham in 1934, joined the Royal Navy at 16-years-old, emigrated to South Africa in 1963 and chose Amanzimtoti to be his home for the last 48 years.

He became an active member of the community in various aspects including chairman of Umbogintwini Cubs and Scouts, president of Toti Toastmasters and on qualifying as an orchid judge he became a popular speaker at local orchid clubs and shows.

He will be greatly missed by his wife Janette, his sons, Craig and Bruce, daughter-in-law Allyson and five granddaughters, Terayza, Jenna, Kerry, Julie, and Megan.

Ray’s memorial service will be held at the Athlone Park Methodist Church on Friday, 30 January at 11.30am.
