Death of keen bowler

Toti Bowling Club honoured him by flying their flag at half-mast.

FRANK RODEN didn’t make his century, but at 97 years and four months he had had a good innings.

He was born on 16 September 1917 and died on Monday, 19 January, 18 months after the death of his beloved wife, Doreen.

Frank was brought up near Wrexham in Wales. He met his wife Doreen while he was stationed in Folkestone, Kent during World War 2. They lived in Folkestone, until they moved to Toti over 30 years ago. They were married for 69 years.

“He was a very generous, kind-hearted man with a good sense of humour. He was a good storyteller and loved playing bowls. He really wanted to reach his century, although he didn’t make it, he had a good innings,” said his daughter, Fiona Roden.

Frank is survived by two daughters, Elayne and Fiona, a son, Nigel; two granddaughters, Nikki and Vanessa and one great-granddaughter, Jade. He was very proud of his children.
