Solid waste won’t stop over festive season

DSW staff is prohibited from touting for gifts.

eTHEKWINI Municipality’s Cleansing and Solid Waste Unit (DSW) staff will be working throughout the festive season including Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

“While it is the season of giving, DSW staff is strictly prohibited from touting for gifts, including money, from residents unless these are offered freely by residents wishing to do so. Residents are advised to be wary of charlatans posing as municipal workers who have been known to solicit gifts,” said DSW PRO, Neeri Moodley.

DSW’s operational services will continue as usual during the festive season including the public holidays. The collection of black domestic bags will continue as normal. However, the orange recycling bags will not be collected on Thursday, 25 December and Thursday, 1 January 2015. Residents can put them out the next day for collection.

“It would be appreciated if your refuse could be put out as early as possible.”

The DSW offices will be closed on 16, 25 and 26 December and 1 January 2015, but the operational staff will be on duty throughout the festive season. For enquiries contact DSW helpline on
031-311-8804.
