Rotary skills project focuses on wellbeing

Mother of Peace in Illovo is a beneficiary.

AMANZIMTOTI Rotary Club has introduced a new initiative aimed at training and equipping women with skills to run their own business or to supplement their incomes at Mother of Peace (MOP) in Illovo.

The wellness sector is an area where opportunity exists in the current economic and social climate where stress is a huge factor in the development of lifestyle diseases.

This is where Aneska Du Pont of the Rotary Club, who is passionate about people development and general wellbeing, has recognised the need and opportunity. She has been securing sponsorship for manicure/pedicure kits, massage training, combined with basic business skills training and equipping beneficiaries with new skills to generate an income. Upon completion of the programme, the women are given opportunities at golf days and other events.

The massages are focussed on stress release and promotion of wellbeing.

One such beneficiary is MOP, which has been privileged to send two women to the training. In addition to the beneficiaries’ achievement, they aim to utilise their newfound skills to enhance the children’s personal well-being, inspire personal grooming and encourage skills development in their youth development programme.

Two caregivers attended the training in October with great, motivating results. “I have always wanted to do massages but I was not confident. This course has given me the confidenceand skills. Thank you,” said Nosipho Mnyandu, one of the beneficiaries.

MOP thanks Amanzimtoti Rotary for their support.
