Sharks, skates abound for competitive Buccs anglers

The clubs prize-giving will be held on Saturday, 13 December at Buccaneers, 7pm for 7.30pm.

BUCCANEERS Fishing Club held its last competition of the year, the turkey trot on 6 and 7 December.

The anglers were kept busy measuring and weighing their catches.

The inedible category was won by Clive van Rensburg with a sand shark of 18.9kg. Clive also recorded a brown skate of 2.6kg and second place went to Gary Lloyd with a brown skate of 8.7kg and another brown skate of 4kg. Brian Scott recorded a grey shark of 7.3kg.

Junior angler, Aaron Jordt also recorded a grey shark of 8.4kg and and two blue skates, 4.7kg and 2.8kg. His dad, Deon Jordt was not far behind with a sand shark of 7.4kg and a brown skate of 2kg.

The edible category was won by Toss Strydom with a bone fish of 3.45kg and Toss Strydom was in second place with a kob of 2.8kg, another of 2.2kg and a shad of 1.5kg.

The Christmas booze hamper was won by Tommy Ferreira. Thank you to all who supported the hamper ticket sales.

Condolences to Glenese Lancaster and family on the sad loss of Bernard Lancaster. The club wishes all members a festive Christmas and the very best for 2015.
