A GOSPEL group which falls under the auspices of House of Nations Church in Lotus Park, Isipingo will celebrate the launch of its first CD on Tuesday, 16 December.
“We have planned a colourful evening of dance and music comprising local talent,” said senior pastor, Rajan Govender.
The gospel group comprises 12 members and has developed over eight years. “We started from humble beginnings in Malagazi with no musicians, but two singers. We created our own opportunity being guided and led by the spirit of God.”
For six years the group sang music of commercial CDs. “It was in my heart to raise my own musicians. I started by empowering my two sons by taking them for music lessons. Although we had no experience, we trained our own singers. We guided those who showed passion and developed their talent.”
The CD’s theme is ‘Now is our Time’. It comprises 11 songs which were written by the group. It took six weekends and 40 hours of studio time to develop. “Inspiration for the songs came from the messages I preached.”
The group is working on a second CD and will introduce a song at the launch. The launch takes place at IRC Ministries (former Blue Church at the entrance to Lotus Park). It starts at 4pm and entrance is R20 per person.
