Pre-school needs help with maintenance

Classroom floors need to be tiled.

SIYAKHULA Pre-School in KwaMakhutha needs the public’s assistance to make the facility more conducive to learning for its 79 little charges, aged between 12 months and five-years-old.

“I am pleading with the public to donate tiles for two classrooms which have cement floors. We can’t use carpets, as many children are allergic.

We also need ceiling boards and repairs to a fence around the school. The poles are rotting and as a result, the wire fence sags,” said school supervisor, Gertrude Ntuli.

The school is based in an underprivileged community and many of the pupils’ parents are employed as domestic workers. “It’s my vision to see children grow up to become better people. The running of the creche rests solely on my shoulders as the parents entrust their children in my care.”

Many of the parents are unable to afford the R100 school fees. “I am passionate about what I do. With the community’s help I want the children to be able to learn in a better environment.”

If anyone is able to assist, contact Gertrude on 078-8443-143 or Lungile Chiliza on 078-1333-722.
