Anti-violence activism takes form of 5km run

Wear blue and white to show solidarity.

THE Amanzimtoti Trauma Unit (ATU) is embracing the national 16 Days of Activism against violence on women and children and has partnered with parkrun Amanzimtoti for its usual run on Saturday, 6 December.

All parkrunners are encouraged to wear blue and white to show solidarity and support for this worthy cause and to take along a financial donation or an item of non-perishable food, toiletries, toys, bedding or toweling to donate to ATU.

An NPO, the organisation provides immediate accommodation, care, counselling and restitution where possible, to the unfortunate women and children who are victims of abuse.
The 16 Days of Activism against domestic violence is an annual event and ATU aims to highlight the plight of victims of domestic violence. The organisation endeavours to inform and empower the community about steps to take when in an abusive relationship.

The Amanzimtoti parkrun is run or walked over a 5km route along the Toti promenade and beach every Saturday. This popular run was inaugurated in August and is managed by Claudine Farr. For more details about the run, contact Claudine Farr on the Facebook page Amanzimtoti-parkrun or Gail Schreiner at ATU on 031-903-7777 during office hours.
