Armed robbers strike in Toti CBD

They threatened the owner with firearms and demanded cash.

Five armed robbers held up the owner of a shop in the Amanzimtoti CBD at about 11.30am on Thursday, 20 November.

According to Toti SAPS communications officer, Captain Charlene van der Spuy, an unknown man entered the business premises and enquired about the price of a TV stand. “After being assisted he then left the store, but returned a few minutes later accompanied by another four men.

They threatened the owner with firearms and demanded cash.

The owner handed them his wallet, which contained R580 in cash and his driver’s licence. The suspects also took three cellphones, a laptop and car keys.

They fled the scene on foot.”

A case of business robbery was opened and is being investigated by Amanzimtoti detectives.
