Young musicians who are learning orchestral instruments are being sought.

The KZN Youth Orchestra (KZNYO) will hold a second round of auditions for new members for 2015 at the Durban Music School on Saturday, 15 November from 1.30pm.

The Youth Orchestra is made-up of young musicians from around the province.

“We are looking for young players who are learning orchestral instruments. The commitment is to rehearse on Friday nights at the Durban Music School in Daikonia Avenue from 4pm to 6.30pm during the school term. Concerts are also arranged to take place on Friday evenings,” said KZNYO chairman, Amanda Clay-Smith.

Should any young musicians be interested in auditioning, they need to be between the ages of 12 and 23 years-old, be grade three music level for the shadow orchestra and grade 5 music level for the main orchestra. Candidates must prepare two contrasting pieces and some scales. They may play with or without an accompanist.
