Businessman hails CCPO after bakkie’s recovery

The CCPO is worth their weight in gold.

A business owner has the tenacity of the Community Crime Prevention Organisation (CCPO) to thank for the recovery of his stolen vehicle and tools on Friday night, 31 October.

Mark Shum, who owns his own airconditioner business, had stopped at Winklespruit Lifesaving Club to give a quote when his Toyota bakkie with what he estimates to be more than R70,000 worth of ladders, spares and tools, was stolen at about 8.45pm.

As a client, he contacted the CCPO and his tracking company and his vehicle was found at Adams Mission Clinic after a search by Rupert Smit and his crew.

“I got my vehicle back so quickly,” he said in praise of the CCPO. “The dashboard had been torn apart to try and find my tracking device and they had fused my right-hand side indicator to stop it flicking. But everything was recovered.

The CCPO is worth every cent. As a business insurance, it is 100%. Every time I phone them, they respond.”

Mark, however, was not full of praise for Toti SAPS.

“I asked the CCPO to guard my vehicle at Adam’s Mission. When I went to the police station to give a statement, they said I had to wait for my vehicle to arrive before they would take my statement. What happens if a car is not recovered?

I was not impressed with them, but the CCPO is worth their weight in gold. Everyone should join them.”

Toti SAPS communication officer, Captain Charlene van der Spuy said the complainant was assisted by the police and also received the necessary paperwork to take possession of his vehicle at the same time.

“This was confirmed by more than one member who dealt with the complainant at the time,” said Capt Van Der Spuy.
