Audition for hip-hop festival

The best artists will be chosen for workshops to sharpen their skills.

IN an effort to promote and nurture the hip-hop culture in the city, eThekwini Municipality’s arts and culture department will host a hip-hop festival on 27 December.

In preparation for the festival, auditions to uncover the best talent will be held. Thereafter, the chosen artists will be part of a series of workshops and rehearsals, where their skills will be
sharpened.

Auditions will be held on the following days:
Saturday, 1 November at KwaNdengezi Old Shopping Centre.
Saturday, 8 November at Wushwini.
Sunday, 9 November at KwaMashu Gymnasium Sport Centre.
Saturday, 15 November at Clermont Sizakala Centre.
Saturday, 15 November at the Playhouse.
Sunday, 16 November at Austerville hall in Wentworth.
Sunday, 23 November Makhutha Sphelel hall.
Sunday, 23 November Umlazi U hall.

Registration for auditions start at 9am.
The programme is aimed at engaging eThekwini residents and to give them insight into the hip-hop culture for them to have a better understanding and appreciation for it.

Artists that will be part of the auditions and festival include; BMX riders, skaters, hip-hop dance groups, hip-hop DJs, beat makers and graffiti artists.
Graffiti artists should submit their demos before 20 November.
