The programme focused on mathematics, physics and accounting for matriculants in all surrounding schools.

The foundation, a non-profit organisation, was founded in 2010 in KwaMakhutha.

“We refer to ourselves as groundbreakers, innovators and the movers and shakers of walls,” said chairman, Mlungisi Hlophe. “Our main purpose is to strengthen the academic potential of the youth in KwaMakhutha, through a comprehensive programme which focuses mainly on mathematics, science and accounting, which are areas of great demand in the South African labour force.

We identified a need to uplift and assist the academic community in society which we also form part of, and instill the importance and the value of education in our future leaders, also the value of morals and leadership skills.

We are particularly mindful that children in rural and township environments require particular effort. Those who are coming from disadvantaged backgrounds need quality of life and they must be given support, recreational facilities and role modelling.

This is why the Learn Foundation was established in KwaMakhutha township.

Our mission is to develop excellence in education and training to support the development of the community society and economy.

We are dedicated to assist our students develop the skills, intellect and productive lives in the global community of the 21st century.”
