Joint effort nets housebreakers

The description of a suspicious vehicle was circulated on the CCPO radio channel by Metro Police officers.

Co-operation between Metro Police and the Community Crime Prevention Organisation (CCPO) led to the arrest of two housebreakers on Monday afternoon, 6 October.

According to operations manager, Leon Joone, the description of a suspicious vehicle, a silver Toyota Corolla with possible housebreaking suspects, was circulated on the CCPO radio channel by Metro Police officers, Shawn Jooste and Dean Niewoudt. The vehicle had been chased in Lamontville and Isipingo earlier in the day.

“CCPO officer, Rupert Smit spotted the vehicle in Umdoni Road and called for assistance,” said Leon.

“We managed to jam in the two occupants with help from Metro Police. It was discovered the vehicle was stolen and the passenger had been issued with a warrant of arrest for housebreaking in Toti, but had skipped bail.

With a combined effort between Metro Police and local security companies, there are now two less criminals on our streets.”

  1. Well done guys. In Richards Bay one housebreaker was killed while he was shooting at the police and one has been arrested. We need to see more of these people being put away.
