Children’s profits help boost cancer fund

Athlone Park Primary School grade 7 pupils supported Emma's Dream at their recent market day.

The Toti public continues to rally around young cancer sufferer, Emma de Vries.

At the weekend family and friends participated in the Cansa Relay For Life at Kingsway High School, along with Toti runner, Lizette Botha who did the event to raise funds for the little girl.

Athlone Park Primary School grade 7 pupils opted to support Emma’s Dream at their recent market day. Some children gave up the profit they made on the stalls to the fund.

“The community continues to help, support and encourage,” said Emma’s aunt, Debi De Nysschen.

“The fact that children are even involved is something quite special too.

At the school’s market day Cathy Colley of Kidazzle donated R10 of every R30 made on pillowcases that she spray-dyed with stencils. Children took white pillowcases to school and went home with beautiful designs. Emma’s big brother, Caide even got to make a special pillowcase for his sister.

On the first day of Spring the women from 22 on Rockview held a spring day tea and raised funds there as well.

Mike and Tanya and the family are so appreciative of all that is going on around them.”

Following her latest MRI scan, her parents got the bad news that the tumour has continued to grow, regardless of the chemotherapy.

“So what they need to try and do is bring the chemo closer between treatments, if her body will allow it,” said Debi.
