Dumped ammo found at roadside

He noticed some suspicious items lying on the verge.

Diligent work from a reaction officer saved dumped ammunition from falling into the wrong hands.

On Thursday, 18 September ET Rapid Response reaction officer, Ashley Naidoo was patrolling along MacMenamin Road when he noticed some suspicious items lying on the verge.

Upon closer inspection it seemed to be ammunition. As such, he called senior management to the scene.

“We went through the items and found a fair amount of 9mm and .38 casings, the bullet heads, as well as a disassembled reloading press,” said ET managing member, Tony Lokker.

“Initially we assumed it must have been left there as a result of a break-in somewhere.”

After interviewing residents, it was established that a home owner who is moving house, could have dumped the ammunition on the side of the road.

“Fortunately, Ashley saw the items and prevented them from falling into the wrong hands,” said Tony.

The items were handed over to the police.
