Paramedics at accident scene assisted the mother.

A BABY girl was born at the scene of an accident on the N2 near the Dickens Road bridge on Tuesday evening, 2 September, after an ambulance transporting an expectant mother stopped for assistance.

The N2 southbound near the Dickens Road bridge was left obstructed for several hours after a beer truck overturned at about 8pm. Fortunately no one was injured,” said Netcare 911 media liaison, Chris Botha.
Netcare 911, provincial paramedics and the fire department were standing at the scene of the accident when another ambulance stopped for assistance as a woman was giving birth.

“The Netcare and provincial advanced life support paramedics climbed into the back of the ambulance and a minute later a beautiful baby girl was born. After the mother and child were stabilised they were taken to a local hospital.”
