Sani Pass walk raises R20,000 for Emma

Seven Toti women tackled the annual CHOC Sani Walk on Saturday, 9 August.

A fundraiser walk up and down Sani Pass raised R20,000 for a young Toti cancer fighter.

Seven Toti women tackled the annual CHOC Sani Walk on Saturday, 9 August to raise funds and awareness for 18-month-old Emma de Vries.

“The walk was really amazing. It was tough, but everyone did very well and we will be back next year,” said Annemarie. “For Angela and I it was a bit easier, as we knew what to expect. The weather was chilly and cold, with soft snow coming down when we reached the top.

My aim was to try and collect R10,000, so I was jumping with joy when I realised that we have exceeded that amount on Friday and then Lara Ellis got a challenge that if she completed the walk a further R2,000 will be donated and that took us to R20,000.

Thanks to the amazing women who walked with us, the generous public and companies who sponsored our prizes and are mentioned on the Emma’s Dream Facebook page, those who gave us cash donations and each person who supported us by buying a raffle ticket, and sold tickets for us. It was such a pleasure raising money for such a special little girl and her family,” said Annemarie.

“From the De Vries family, our utmost gratitude goes out to these amazing women,” said Emma’s mother, Tanya. “We appreciate all their effort and want them to know how awesome they all are.”
