RWFL descends on inaugural Toti Park Run

Sunday Some members took part in the Merewent 10km run and they all did well.

ON Saturday, Run Walk For Life (RWFL) members again took part in two different events.

The Nawrattel family joined thousands of people in the annual Pick n Pay 5km Cansa walk that took part in La Lucia’s North Coast Road, while most RWFL members supported fellow member Claudine Farr at the first Amanzimtoti Park Run. About 150 people started at 8am with Comrades legend, Bruce Fordyce on what was the first of many still to come.

Well done to all who participated and to Claudine, thank you for bringing Park Run to Toti.

On Sunday some members took part in the Merewent 10km run and all did well.

Lizette will continue raising funds by running the 100 Miler (161km) on 19 and 20 September. After the 24 hour circuit race in Pietermaritzburg, she will only take an hour’s for the drive from Pietermaritzburg to Amanzimtoti, and then complete her quest by doing about 70kms over the next 10 hours at the Cansa relay at Kingsway High School. RWFL urges companies, families and schools to support Lizette by pledging money towards this cause. Sponsor her per kilometre or make a donation. RWFL is in full support of her effort. For more information, call Jan on 082-290-4025.

RWFL challenges anyone to start walking with the goal to be able to complete a 10km race within/after three months of training.

Despite the cold weather, it is a pleasure to see how many young and old athletes turn up for training. RWFL’s training are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday at Amanzimtoti High School from 5pm until 6pm.

Saturday, 20 September is the new date for the Cansa relay, which starts at 5pm and goes through the night to 5am on Sunday. RWFL has five teams so far, with 10 members per team.

Call Jan Botha to join in this fun event to honour those living with, who have died of or are survivors of cancer. RWFL challenges all schools, sports clubs, companies, school teams and families to put teams together.
