Toti touch rugby ace to play for SA

A TOTI zoology student has shown her mettle on the rugby field and will represent South Africa.

Kerry Warne has recently been selected to play for the South African women’s touch rugby team.
She was selected to play inter-provincials for KZN in March and was selected to the South African women’s touch rugby team in June. “It was such a shock to get selected, I wasn’t expecting it,” said Kerry.
The ex-Kingsway pupil started playing touch rugby socially in 2011.
Kerry will be part of the women’s rugby team representing South African at the Federation of International Touch (FIT) Touch World Cup in April next year in Coffs Harbour, Australia. “This is my first world cup so I’m quite nervous. I’m just going to try my best,” said Kerry. She says matches against Australia and New Zealand will be an experience.
The 22-year-old is a first year Unisa zoology students. “My passion is the ocean and I’d like to go into marine zoology,” said Kerry. She studies full-time and coaches touch rugby, hockey, cross-country, soccer and softball.
