Hospice grateful for church’s support of food drive

The public can donate to Hospice, in cash or in kind.

The CEO of Khanya Hospice, Neil McDonald was invited to share to the congregation about the Impilo Project, which is financially supported by members of the St Paul’s Church.

People have been donating money to the church towards this Hospice food project and the church board donated food.

“Hospice will repack this into smaller, manageable quantities and distribute it to their patients, of which many are so poverty-stricken, they just don’t have food,” said Neil.

“We cannot stomach that a patient takes medication if they have not eaten and we cannot just walk away.

It is through this project that we are also able to go the extra mile and make sure there is food in the house.

We are not in the food distribution chain, we are in healthcare, but we also see the need for food and toiletries.”

The public can donate to Hospice, in cash or in kind. “We have three charity shops where we put the donated articles up for sale and that income helps sustain the free palliative nursing care that we do,” said Neil.

Hospice can be contacted on 039-973-1783/0277 or email manager@khanyahospice.org.za.
