UPDATE: Reunion group pays tribute to Sharon Small

Sharon Anne Small has been remembered as a woman with an immeasurable zest for life, especially by those who attended the Toti-ites 60s and 70s club reunion last weekend along with her.

Sharon died in a fatal head-on collision with another car on the M4 near Umdloti at about 3pm on Wednesday, 23 July. Her 15-year-old grandson was one of three people critically injured in the crash. He succumbed to his injuries last night in hospital. Her daughter is still critical in hospital. An one-year-old toddler was ejected from the car and is also critical. Two others were seriously injured.

Netcare 911 paramedics worked alongside fire department and provincial ambulance services for about two hours to extricate the injured from the vehicles.

This morning, the Toti-ites reunions group’s Facebook group has rolled out a litany of condolences, memoriam messages and tributes to the Toti stalwart, who is described by many as having a wonderfully positive outlook on life and being the life of a party.

Many reeled at news of her death, and expressed their shock and sadness. Grant Morris who announced the news on the site and said: “I am absolutely shattered beyond words at this very, very sad news.” Lesley Baker added: “I am so privileged to have spent wonderful afternoons with her planning the reunion which she enjoyed to the very end. Rest easy my friend – you are already so sadly missed.”

Craig Thompson’s post echoed many comments: “RIP Sharon you were a legend and the life of the party.”
