Welfare administers first aid for creches

A creche should have a person qualified in first aid on the premises.

KINGSBURGH Child and Family Welfare Society in Warner Beach co-ordinated a three-day first aid training programme for creches conducted by the SA Red Cross Society from Monday to Wednesday, 14 to 16 July.

The programme was funded by the National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund. By law, a creche should have a person qualified in first aid on the premises. The training which is recognised internationally was conducted by Babe Nagooroo.

Welfare focuses on developing early childhood development centres in the area. “The programme is valuable in that it educates and trains child-minding facilitators with skills to improve the quality of care they provide for children,” said senior social worker, Sandra Govender.

Through various programmes throughout the year, welfare focuses on the community’s health, nutrition, education, psychosocial and other needs within the context of the family and the community.
