ON Saturday, 12 July Winklespruit Bowling Club, at 50 Gus Brown Road, will hold a fair starting at 9am.
There will be curry and rice, Satu vetkoek, pancakes, boerewors rolls, cakes, plus bric a brac stalls. The public is welcome. Go and join in fun bowls and other games.
Last Thursday in the monthly women’s Victory Kwik Spar trips competition, Yvonne Wright, Stella Erasmus and Kathy Harding took the overall prize, while Susan Erasmus, Denise Bingham and Charlotte Kohl claimed the second session. The first session prize went to Estelle van der Merwe, Gladys Yelland and Elmarie Young. The spider was won by Lyn Viljoen and the 100 board by Brian Bodley.
In last week’s club competition results, round two of the women’s nominated trips, Susan Erasmus, Joyce Mackrory and Maureen Freeman beat Elaine Critchlow, Yvonne Appleby and Maureen Griffin. In the men’s senior singles Bill Rawlinson beat Brian Bodley. Bill goes through to the final. Playing for second place in the men’s nominated trips Alan Raubenheimer, Brian Farmer and Des Robarts beat Eddie Bingham, Freddy Hetterscheidt and Brian Bodley. In the men’s nominated pairs Freddy Hetterscheidt and Martin Young beat Andre Gelderblom and Sonny Brunsdon.
The Lincoln Steakhouse monthly mixed 2-4-2 will be held on Sunday, 13 July at 9am. Check the notice board for teams and let Mac Appleby know if you cannot play. On Saturday, 19 July it’s the Saturday morning Clearwater Spur mixed 2-4-2, let Brian Farmer know if you cannot play.
As from last Friday, 4 July all players are carded for outstanding club competitions. The closing date for club competitions is Friday, 29 August. The prize-giving will take place on Saturday, 6 September at 2pm. With competitions still outstanding, make an effort to play them now, remember from 5 to 8 August the club is closed for the Scottburgh tournament.
The club’s AGM will take place on Saturday, 30 August and club fees are due now before Friday, 1 August.
