Open pool trials for nationals this weekend

SAPPHIRE Coast Pool league results for Wednesday, 2 July:

Moulin Rouge A and their opponents Reef (V) A teams couldn’t score enough points to get an advantage on each other. Each round ended in a tie. Moulin Rouge’s Mark MacFarlane took a striking full house for his team. Johnny Roets of Reef A took three of his four games. The break came when the doubles games were snatched up with two tight games; the victors Moulin Rouge A with a hard earned 10-8 win.

Ollies A team took the first four games of the evening against home team Silver Dollar B and allowed only two points each for the third and fourth round. Silver Dollar B managed to grasp the last singles point of the evening. Roland Pillay scored a splendid full house. Ollies A relinquished one last point in the final doubles game but walked away with a convincing 12 – 6 victory.

Even though the first round ended in a tie, Warnadoone C showed little mercy to Silver Dollar C for most of the rest of the evening. Silver Dollar C was allowed the final singles game. Warnadoone C’s Nico Botha and Warren Smith both scored effortless full houses and team mate Gareth Smith won three of his four games. The even doubles score left Warnadoone C with a glorious 14 -4 triumph.

With Warnadoone D and Moulin Rouge D’s first round playing out even, Warnadoone D won the next round 3-1. As the third rounded ended, scores were even once more. Moulin Rouge D’s forceful onslaught left Warnadoone D trailing with only a possible draw. Moulin Rouge D’s John Laas, Eugene Venter and opposition Vinay Buth each took three of their four games. Hopes were dashed for Warnadoone D as the even doubles game left Moulin Rouge D with a 10 – 8 victory.

KZN Pool Federation welcomes the new venue Kings Sports and its two teams.

Opens trials for SA nationals will be held over this coming weekend 12 and 13 July at Liquid Ice. All registered players are welcome to attend.
