Bluff appeal for info in strike-related shooting

Bluff police are urgently asking for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward about this morning’s strike-related shooting of a Defy worker in Jacobs.

The man (48) was critically injured when he was shot in the back while walking to work at 5.30am in Jacobs industrial area, in what police have said was one of two Numsa-strike related shootings on Friday morning.

Callers who make contact with Brighton Beach SAPS’ Detective Inspector Grobler on 073-434-4396 are assured that their identity will be protected.

The man’s shooting followed an earlier incident in which shots were discharged into a bakkie entering Defy’s nearby Teakwood Road premises at 5.10am. No-one was hurt in that incident.

Eye-witnesses said the shooter was wearing a white sports jacket with a horizontal, dark-green stripe trim with an insignia in the chest area. This matches a description provided by the victim in the earlier shooting at the appliance manufacturer’s gate.
