Yoga day raises R5,000 for SPCA

Some 50 enthusiastic participants took to their mats in aid of the animal welfare organisation.

A CHARITY yoga day in Warner Beach on Saturday, 28 June raised R5,000 for Amanzimtoti SPCA.

Over 50 enthusiastic yogis gathered for the event, with teachers Pam Cochrane, Laura Konig and Margaret Schmidt taking charge of the class.

“A great day was had by all doing what we all love and still managing to raise R5,000 for the SPCA, another of our passions,” said Laura.

The charity yoga day takes place once a year and she thanked the participants for generously donating to the animal welfare organisation.

“Our staff and our fur babies are truly grateful, as we rely heavily on the public’s support to continue our work in animal welfare,” said SPCA PRO, Michelle Hannan. She thanked St Winifreds Methodist Church for the use of the hall and refreshments.

Michelle invites the community to visit and browse the SPCA’s thrift shop and book shop at its premises in Nyathi Road, Athlone Park. Upcoming events include clinic days and month-end clothes and book sales. For more information about the SPCA, call 031-904-2424.
