Station Road powerless against cable thieves

I think more should be done to ensure our safety.

EDITOR – I’m a tenant in Station Road, Umbogintwini.

In less than two months, there’s been cable theft in our street leaving us powerless for hours.

These guys come in a group and know exactly how to steal live cables.

This is the second time we have woken up at 2am to our dogs barking vigorously.

Last month, my husband actually chased them with the dogs as we knew that by the time the cops arrived, they would be long gone. These cable thieves are violent, as they threw stones at my husband, leaving him full of welts.

Our street is clearly a hot spot as its dark, the street lights are always off and has paths leading from and across the railway lines. It not right that we have to live in fear, as we have no security on our street. I think more should be done to ensure our safety.

Could you make people aware of these cable thieves?
