Knifemen hold up couple at home

They stole jewellery, money and a cellphone.

TWO knife-wielding men accosted a couple in their St Boniface Maze home in St Winifreds at about 9pm on Friday, 25 April.

“They followed my husband from the garage which is at street level, to the house below, as he came in to tell me he was home and would be busy in the garage,” said the home owner.

Both were held at knife point when the thieves demanded valuables. “My husband handed them money from his pocket. As I faced one of the men, I moved backwards, fell over a chair and was pinned between the chair and wall. The thief hovered above me with his knife pointed at me and told me to be quiet.

The couple’s chains were ripped off their necks. “I managed to press a panic button concealed behind a curtain, where I had fallen. They ran, grabbing my cellphone on their way out.”

She believes they were either lurking in the garden or saw an opportunity, after her husband pulled into the garage.

Since the start of the year, this has been the third incident at the residence. In January, thieves attempted to break-in, but were unsuccessful. In a February burglary, money was stolen. The back door and French doors were also badly damaged and had to be replaced.

The home owner thanks CCPO and Alpha Alarms for their quick response.
