Dixie’s celebrate golden milestone

Couple looks forward to more happy years together.

DOONSIDE couple and childhood sweethearts,Yvonne and Clyde (Dix) Dixie celebrated their milestone golden wedding anniversary on Friday, 18 April.

The couple met as children in the 1950s and struck up a firm friendship. They started dating in 1960 and four years later, tied the knot at the St Francis Anglican Church in Winklespruit.

They settled in St Winifreds and lived there for 18 years, before moving to Durban for 25 years.

In 2013, they returned to in the area and settled in Doonside. “It’s good to be back, we have bumped into many old friends,” said Yvonne.

Before retirement, Dix was in the commercial industrial real estate business and Yvonne was a residential property manager.

She attributes their long union to friendship before marriage and surrounding themselves with family and friends.

In the first three years after their retirement, the Dixies have been busy. They travelled to the UK and Australia, where they spent time with their son and daughter. In-between the overseas visits, they traversed around SA in a caravan.

They have three children and seven grandchildren and look forward to many more happy years together.
