Kudos to caring Toti lifeguards

These lifeguards showed so much sympathy and empathy with my dad's situation, and treated him with the utmost respect.

EDITOR – As a family, we would like to express our gratitude towards the lifeguards of Toti main beach.

We visited Toti over the Easter weekend.

My dad is wheelchair-bound and cannot go down to the beach because of this restriction.

It is very difficult for us as a family to leave him in the holiday flat and go down to the beach, knowing that he always enjoyed spending his days on the beach and swimming in the sea.

I had a chat with one of the lifeguards about the beach wheelchairs that I’ve seen in Cape Town. Unfortunately they have no such wheelchairs available in Amanzimtoti.

I explained my father’s situation to him and they offered to transport my dad with the lifeguard’s 4×4 bakkie onto the beach, which they did for the duration of our stay at Toti.

These lifeguards showed so much sympathy and empathy with my dad’s situation, and treated him with the utmost respect.

My dad enjoyed every moment on the beach, and this would not have been possible without the help of the Amanzimtoti lifeguards.

Thank you to each and every lifeguard who made this possible
